Online Brief Mindfulness-Based Intervention for Subacute Pain After Total Hip or Knee Replacement: A Pilot Randomized Controlled Trial (2024)

The purpose of this study was to determine if brief mindfulness practice (i.e., 4 weeks) can improve post-operative pain intensity, pain interference, analgesic medication use, pain catastrophizing, pain acceptance, and mindfulness for patients who received a total hip replacement or total knee replacement. Mindfulness reduced patient intensity and pain interference to a greater extent than a pain coping treatment.
