Mark Woernle, MD

Dr. Mark Woernle, an accomplished orthopaedic surgeon, and his wife, Holly, are proud residents of Panama City Beach, Florida. Holly, who works as a Pharmacy Manager at HCA Florida Gulf Coast, often shares lunch with Dr. Woernle, highlighting their close-knit partnership. On weekends, Dr. Woernle can be found fervently supporting his Auburn Tigers, exploring local restaurants in search of the perfect seafood spot, and enjoying his favorite pastimes of golf, tennis, and time on the water. As they look forward to establishing deeper roots in Bay County, both Dr. Woernle and Holly are eager to become active members of their church and local community clubs.

Dr. Woernle’s educational journey began with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences from Auburn University, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2013. He went on to earn his Doctorate of Medicine from Temple University, Lewis Katz School of Medicine in May 2018. His formal training continued with a residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at Monmouth Medical Center, Rutgers University, under the mentorship of Dr. Jason Cohen and Dr. Steven Paragioudakis from July 2018 to June 2023. Following his residency, Dr. Woernle completed a Spine Surgery Fellowship at the Florida Orthopaedic Institute with Dr. Roy Sanders and Dr. Steven Tresser from July 2023 to July 2024.

Dr. Woernle holds board certification from the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and maintains active licensure in Florida. His certifications include USMLE Steps 1, 2 CK, 2 CS, and Step 3. His professional experience includes serving as a Team Orthopedic Physician, providing coverage for high school football games in Monmouth County, NJ. His commitment to orthopaedic care is further demonstrated through his extensive research and publications, addressing topics such as carpal tunnel syndrome, pediatric knee conditions, and cardiac events in athletes.

In recognition of his outstanding contributions, Dr. Woernle has received several awards, including the Chief Orthopaedic Resident title for 2022-2023 and the Angelo J. Lopano Memorial Interdepartmental Collaborative Award in 2020. He is an active member of the North American Spine Society, the American Orthopaedic Association, and the American Medical Association. Dr. Woernle is enthusiastic about bringing his expertise to Bay County and becoming a valued member of his new community.
