Observing & Internships

Observing/Shadowing   Internship/Practicum/Clerkship

To ensure we are doing all we can to help our patients and employees live well and protect their health and safety, TOC requires that all applicants adhere to TOC’s influenza policy. Those applying for clinical experience at TOC during the flu season (November – March) may be required to provide documentation of flu vaccination as part of their completed application packet.

OBSERVING/SHADOWING

Thank you for your interest in observing at Tallahassee Orthopedic Clinic! Due to the high volume of requests, we cannot guarantee the placement of all students or professionals interested in observing at TOC.

  • Applicants interested in observing at TOC are responsible for securing their own allied health care provider, nursing, or physician sponsor with whom they intend to shadow. TOC will not provide sponsors for shadowing experiences, nor will we provide contact information for our staff.
  • Once a sponsor has been secured, the Observer Application packet (see the link below) should be filled out completely (including the TOC sponsor signature) and submitted via email in a single document. Incomplete applications (including missing signatures or flu documentation) will not be processed.
  • Applications must be received at least 20 business days prior to the requested start date for observation. During high-volume application periods, additional time may be required. Please provide exact or anticipated specific start dates.
  • Students interested in observing surgical experiences should contact the individual surgical facility (TMH, CRMC, TOSC, etc.) directly for approval because TOC does not oversee those facilities.

If the applicant is requesting observation hours with any of our clinical (MD/DO, PA, PT, etc.) staff, please email the completed application to Undergrad@TEAMTOC.com.

Note: Completion of the application does not guarantee placement at TOC.

INTERNSHIPS/PRACTICUM/CLERKSHIP

TOC has limited availability to place students and residents for internships/practicum/clerkships. Those interested in completing such an experience with TOC should complete the application packet below.

  • Students/residents must receive academic credit through their college/university/institution of record to be considered for an internship/practicum/clerkship experience.
  • An affiliation agreement must be executed between the college/university/institution and TOC before the clinical experience can occur. Proof of general liability and professional liability insurance must accompany the affiliation agreement.
  • Once the affiliation agreement has been executed, the Intern Application packet (see the link below) should be filled out completely and submitted via email in a single document. Incomplete applications (e.g., including missing information or signatures) will not be processed. Please provide exact or anticipated specific start dates.
  • Applications must be received at least 20 business days prior to the requested start date. During high-volume application periods, additional time may be required.
  • Those interested in observing or assisting at surgical experiences should contact the individual surgical facility (TMH, HCA Capital, TOSC, etc.) directly for approval because TOC does not oversee those facilities.
